About Tarzana

The community called Tarzana is located on the site of a former ranch that was owned by author Edgar Rice Burroughs and is named after one of his main characters, Tarzan. This primarily residential community sits in the picturesque San Fernando Valley. Less than nine square miles in size the city is bordered by Topanga State Park, and the cities of Encino, Reseda, and Woodland Hills.

The park is home to native plants such as the Coastal sage scrub, montane chaparral, and California oak trees. There are also bay laurel woodland, walnut woodland, and grassland savannah. Additionally, visitors can enjoy over eighty mammal species, and more than sixty reptile and amphibian species living in the park. Those enjoying the trails will also be treated to gorgeous views of mountains, canyons, and the surrounding area.

Shopping and dining choices in and around Tarzana provide locals with an abundance of choices. Those looking to dine out can choose a fine restaurant that prepares their favorite dishes, enjoy a delicious meal at a quaint cafe, grab a burger and a beer at a sports bar, or pick up a pizza to take home and enjoy on the patio.

Shoppers can spend a sunny California afternoon browsing the shops and boutiques and enjoying coffee and desert at a lovely outdoor cafe. There are brand name department stores, specialty shops, and boutiques. Daily needs are easily found at local grocery stores and Farmer's markets and other shop providing necessities.

Tarzana is a lovely southern California city that offers residents warm and welcoming neighborhood, sanctuaries from their busy work life. Those choosing to live here can enjoy backyard parties and picnics, take a nap in their hammock, or walk out the stress of the day as they stroll around the block. The city offers locals beautiful parks for relaxation and recreation and a large nearby State park provides miles of hiking and biking trails that let visitors enjoy the flora and fauna of southern California.
