About Northridge
Northridge, home to a branch of the California State University, is a lovely city
in Los Angeles County. Located in the beautiful San Fernando Valley the town offers
lovely neighborhoods, a beautiful environment, and a convenient commute to the city
of Los Angeles.
For those house hunting in the region they will find beautiful neighborhoods and
condominium and townhouse communities. These are lovely developments that offer
houses of various styles, sizes, and prices. Homes sit on lushly landscaped lawns
with welcoming backyards, swimming pools, covered lanais, and friendly patios. Homeowners
enjoy hosting barbecues, relaxing family picnics, and pool parties. The tree lined
streets invite bike rides, strolls through the neighborhood or taking the family
pet for a run. Condominium units and townhouses are well designed and owners enjoy
amenities such as fitness facilities, swimming pools and spas, open green space

Public schools in Northridge are administered by the Los Angeles Unified School
District. There are seven elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high
school. Parents can also choose from a number of private schools in the city. California
State University, Northridge (CSUN) offers bachelors and master's degrees and is
a major contributor to the local economy.
The local Recreation Center has an indoor gymnasium, a community room and a heated
outdoor seasonal swimming pool. There is a welcoming open green space for picnics
with tables and barbecue pits, a playground, a lighted baseball diamond, lighted
outdoor basketball and tennis courts, a lighted soccer field, and an indoor basketball
court. The Center also sponsors youth sports leagues. Dearborn Park offers residents
another place for a picnic and play as well as horseshoe pits and jogging paths.
Residents and visitors enjoy the CSUN Botanic Garden. There is a one acre garden
divided into different sections to highlight a wide variety of flora. Plant lovers
will find trees and shrubs, bulbs, cacti, ground covers, herbs and annual plants,
and foliage that attract butterflies and other beneficial insects. Strolling the
garden on a beautiful sunny afternoon is a wonderful experience.
Shoppers embrace the Northridge Fashion Center that offers brand name department
stores, specialty stores, shops and a movie theater with nine screens. Hungry shoppers
will find chain restaurants, cafes, and fast food eateries including ice cream and
sweet rolls. The mall hosts holiday events, a Farmer's Market, and dining specials
such as Tasty Tuesday's that offers food deals weekly.
In addition to the dining options at the local malls there are numerous other eateries
to enjoy. There are steak houses, rib shacks, bistros, and cafes. A wide variety
of ethnic cuisines are also represented. You can choose a fine dining experience
enjoying your favorite dishes, stop by a quiet cafe for a delicious meal, grab wings
or a burger at a sports bar, or pick up something to take home for a peaceful dinner
on the patio.
Entertainment and events are plentiful in Northridge. The Valley Performing Arts
Center hosts national acts and performers and the popular botanical gardens host
concerts. Another popular venue is the Donald E. Bianchi Planetarium which is operated
by CSUN's Department of Physics and Astronomy. The Planetarium offers many different
shows throughout the year that explain the mysteries of the skis to people of all
ages.
Northridge residents enjoy warm and friendly neighbors, beautiful parks, and the
feeling of community. Shopping and dining options are both convenient and varied
and an eclectic offering of entertainment is offered in the city. All of this under
the beautiful California sun just a short drive to both Los Angeles and Pacific
Ocean beaches.
