The setting is magnificent with towering pines and eucalyptus trees surrounding
the fairways, a stream that meanders through the course adding to its difficulty,
and the famous Hollywood sign in the distance. There is a clubhouse that is available
for members, their guests, and member sponsored events.
The neighborhood is bordered to the east by a park that shares the same name and
is registered as a California Historical Landmark. Located within the park are the
La Brea Tar Pits, George C. Page Museum of La Brea Discoveries, and the Los Angeles
County Museum of Art (LCAMA). The existence of the tar pits was first documented
in 1840 and excavations began in 1906. Thousands of bones from prehistoric animals
have been exhumed from the site and preserved for future study. LCAMA has art works
from ancient time to the present, features film and concert series, and is one of
the largest art museums in the western United States.
