Chatsworth is an uncrowded city located in the San Fernando Valley. This lovely
city sits just south of the Santa Susana Mountains providing residents with breath

train station that is a major transportation hub served by 20 daily trains that
link to downtown Los Angeles.

once a stagecoach and covered wagon trail that connected the Los Angeles Basin and
Ventura County. Residents and visitors enjoy hiking this trail that has been declared
a Los Angeles City Historical Cultural Monument and a Ventura County Historical
Landmark. The park has miles of horseback, hiking, and jogging rails to be enjoyed.
The Recreation Center in the park has an indoor gymnasium with a stage and indoor
basketball courts. Outside there are picnic areas, a playground, and lighted basketball
and tennis courts. Guests can also visit the Minnie Hill Palmer House and Museum
which is one of the area's original homesteads.
Chatsworth Oaks Park is a small three acre park with picnic tables, barbecues, and
a playground. The park does not have established trails but the open space lends
itself to hikers and bikers. The site overlooks the Chatsworth Nature Preserve and
therefore provides wonderful birdwatching opportunities.
Stony Point Park is a popular bouldering and rock climbing site. There are natural
rock outcroppings, alcoves, caves and dens for exploring. For those not into climbing
there are hiking trails and bridle paths that connect to other parks.
Another park with miles of mountain biking paths, and equestrian and hiking trails
is Chatsworth Trails Park. It is a popular park because it links too many other
large parks increasing the opportunities for those exercising or sightseeing.
Sage Ranch Park is another open space park known for panoramic views that includes
campsites, as well as walking and hiking trails.
An adjacent State park, Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park, protects the Old
Stagecoach Trail that has become a popular hiking trail. The Park offers numerous
other hiking trails as well many that rewards participants with breath taking views
of the canyons and valleys.
In addition to these numerous rural parks locals enjoy a nearby neighborhood park.
Mason Park, Recreation Center, and Child Care Center offers a convenient location
for picnics, playing with a playground, and two baseball diamonds, one lighted for
evening use. The Recreation Center has an indoor gymnasium that also serves as an
auditorium, a kitchen and a stage for events and performances. The Child Care Center
care for pre-school age children as well as school age children that participate
in education and recreational activities at the center.
Shoppers will find many local stores and markets to meet their needs. Nearby shopping
malls are also plentiful to offer other buying experiences when necessary.
