West Hollywood is a welcoming neighborhood in Los Angeles that has an urban feel and convenient shopping and dining experiences for every taste. In fact, the area prides itself in being the most walkable city in California.

This area has a number of neighborhoods each with their own atmosphere and businesses that make up the community. There are housing options for all preferences and incomes. The area has large condominium complexes and single-family neighborhoods. Residents can walk to nearby local business or easily visit the commercial areas of other neighborhoods. The simple grid design of the area makes it easy to navigate throughout the area and enjoy the southern California sunshine and culture. Whether running errands, shopping for something special, going out for a meal, or looking for some nightlife, you will find it in West Hollywood.

There are many education choices for parents in West Hollywood. Public schools include an elementary school, a high school, and a charter school for grades K-2. Private schools include four preschools and two schools designed for specific age groups, one is for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten and the other is kindergarten and first grade. There is a private high school and two private preparatory schools serving grades kindergarten through 12.

The streets of West Hollywood are a shoppers dream. Whatever you are looking for you will find it here. Stroll along the streets and visit a designer stores such as the Armani Exchange, Claudio Milano, Nicole Miller, Stella McCartney, or Vera Wang. Browse the specialty shops for accessories, interior design stores for something unique for your home, and visit the gift shops for that perfect birthday present.

If you worked up an appetite while shopping great food is at hand. There are restaurants owned by celebrities and famous chefs. There are ethnic eateries, fine dining establishments, casual cafes, and diners all within walking distance. The choices are so varied that making a decision is difficult. Just take a breath and realize that any selection is a good one and you can try something different next time. Nightlife is famous is the area and you are sure to find something fun to do. For example there are many music venues such as the House of Blues, Whiskey a Go Go, and the Roxy Theater. There are bars and restaurants frequented by celebrities. Go dancing, enjoy a concert, take in a movie, or just relax at the local pub and watch the world go by. Another nearby option is the Hollywood Bowl where you can see plays, jazz, blues, and rock and roll performances, and appearances by well known artists.

When walking in West Hollywood you will find yourself on such well known streets as the Sunset Strip, Santa Monica Boulevard, and the Avenues of Art and Design home to the famous Pacific Design Center. The Center is considered the best decorating and furniture market on the west coast, includes a branch of the Museum of Contemporary Art, and houses two restaurants operated by Wolfgang Puck. It is a popular venue for screenings, exhibitions, lectures, meetings, and special events. The annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Party is traditionally hosted by the Center.

If you need a break from the “city” visit your neighbor to the north, Hollywood Hills. This area has parks with open green space, play grounds, picnic areas, lush vegetation, biking and hiking trails, and beautiful views.

Located west of the Hollywood Hills potential transportation problems have been resolved with convenient roadways and public transportation. Nearby local east-west highways give drivers access to downtown Los Angeles and there is a boulevard that provides a scenic shortcut through the hills. Additionally the area is served by multiple rail and bus services and a subway that runs through the city. To assist local residents there are bus pass and taxi subsidy programs and free curb to curb transportation for residents 62 years or older and disabled persons of any age.

To call West Hollywood home is to live in a pleasant neighborhood that is within walking distance to anything you need. Shopping, dining, and entertainment are just steps away. Enjoy the California
