About Rowland Heights
An unincorporated community, Rowland Heights is a residential area in the San Gabriel
Valley nestled below the Puente Hills in Los Angeles County. The region is a popular
commuter community due to the close proximity to the Pomona Freeway and the San
Gabriel River Freeway. Recently advertised in China as having good housing and nearby
shopping centers the area has had a recent surge in Chinese immigrants. It has become
known as a suburban “Chinatown” with ethnic restaurants, stores, and grocery markets.
Those looking to relocate to the area will find a variety of lovely neighborhoods
in with affordable housing opportunities. There are developments with well maintained
single family homes and beautifully designed condominium complexes. Housing styles
and sizes vary and you will find homes that reflect the Spanish style common in
southern California, traditionally designed houses, and some that reflect the new
modern look in architecture. Neighborhoods offer green lawns and shaded patios along
streets that encourage an after dinner stroll. A number of condominium complexes

Educational needs for area youth are served by the Rowland Unified School District.
The District boasts more state Golden State awards than any other school district
in the area, has four National Blue Ribbon Schools, and 16 California State Distinguished
Schools. Rowland has five elementary public schools, three public schools that serve
grades kindergarten through eight including an academy of science and math and an
academy of arts and technology. There are also two public middle schools and two
public high schools.
Residents enjoy the lovely parks in the community. Rowland Heights Park has a welcoming
picnic area with tables, barbecues and a gazebo, a playground with equipment for
all ages, baseball diamonds, basketball and tennis courts, and an indoor recreational
room. Schabarum Regional Park is a large, pet friendly park and a popular destination
for walkers, hikers, and runners. There are a number of trails and they vary in
length and difficulty. Visitors also enjoy picnic and exercise areas, a playground,
tennis courts, and soccer fields. Stables are also maintained at the park for those
who enjoy horse back riding. Annual events such as dog shows, concerts, and festivals
including a Cherry Blossom Festival and an Autumn Festival.
The Rowland Recreation and Community Education offers classes in art, dance, music,
sports, and dog training. Art classes include painting and drawing, dance offers
ballet, tap, and jazz, music lessons include piano and drums, and sports courses
offer basketball, soccer, karate, water polo, and tennis.
Dinners will find seafood restaurants, steak houses, a wide range of ethic eateries,
chain restaurants, delicatessens, cafes, and bistros in Rowland Heights. Hungry
residents will find it equally easy to make a reservation for a fine dining experience
relishing your favorite dishes, enjoy a delicious meal in a quaint bistro or at
a sidewalk cafe, or bring home yummy deli sandwiches to devour on your patio.

performances, concert venues, and professional sports arenas.
