About Rose Park
Rose Park is a historic neighborhood in Long Beach California just blocks from the
Pacific Ocean. Residents are proud of their homes that are rich in history and embrace
the park located within the community. Many volunteer to maintain the beautify of
this historic site and it's beautiful rose garden.
First settled in 1905, and most of the first homes built were Craftsman Bungalows.
Later construction includes the Prairie/Mission Revival style, Ranch style, and
Neo-Traditional homes. When homes turn 100 residents proudly display a lawn banner
to celebrate the houses birthday. To preserve this historic district there are specific
rules make sure that new, existing structures, and any additions or alterations
to existing homes maintain the appropriate historic, cultural, and architectural
motif.
There are many inviting housing choices in Rose Park. Historic homes of various
styles, sizes, and prices are available. Houses sit on beautifully landscaped lawns,
with well designed outdoor living spaces, and are surrounded by tree-lined streets
that invite an evening walk or bike ride. Many stroll proudly through their community
taking in the history and acknowledging the 'birthday houses'.
The community hosts many events, celebrations, and festivals. Events include art
exhibits and shows, a neighborhood exchange where residents bring home grown fruit
or vegetables, baked goods, or arts and crafts to trade with others.
The Los Angeles Unified School District oversees public elementary, middle, and
high schools in Long Beach. There area also many private schools for parents to
choose from.
The local park, Rose Park, has a gazebo that features a tile mosaic in the center
with the Rose Park Stickley Rose Emblem and is surrounded by a beautiful rose garden.
Residents are very dedicated to the park and organized a fund raiser to help in
the restoration of the park. Monies are designated to finish landscaping, add benches,
trash bins, and a doggie bag dispenser.
Residents also enjoy the many parks available in Long Beach. The parks offers beautiful
green areas for picnics with barbecues, tables, shelters, and shaded areas. There
are equipped playgrounds, lighted and unlighted basketball, volleyball, and tennis
courts, baseball diamonds, and soccer and football fields. Fitness zones and walking
and hiking trails and paths are also abundant.
Especially popular are the paths that run along the beautiful southern California
beaches.
In addition to the parks, community centers offer indoor recreation with equipped
gymnasiums, basketball courts as well as meeting space and rooms for parties and
events. The centers offers after school programs, day camps, coordinated activities,
and classes for all ages. There are also youth and adult sports leagues in baseball,
softball, basketball, golf, tennis, and volleyball. Residents also take advantage
of gardens, concerts in the park, and movies on the beach.
Dining opportunities for residents of Rose Park are abundant in surrounding Long
Beach. There are fine dining restaurants, cafes, bistros, and fast food eateries.
Steak and seafood restaurants are plentiful as well as eateries that offer a wide
range of cuisines. You can enjoy a wonderful family breakfast, a delicious burger,
wings, or deli sandwich for lunch or a fine dining experience relishing your favorite
dishes. It is equally easy to take your favorite food home to enjoy on the patio.
Shopping options are also plentiful with brand name department stores, specialty
stores, and boutiques. There are also many supermarkets, grocery stores, specialty
food markets, and two local Farmer's markets to provide shoppers with ingredients,
meats, and produce for all of their favorite recipes.
