Oasis with a View
Mount Washington was developed as a subdivision in the hills of Northeast Los Angeles.
The neighborhood has become known as a peaceful and friendly oasis in the hectic
pace that is Los Angeles. Residents enjoy the lack of busy arterials in their community
and appreciate the quiet, small town ambience of tree-lined streets and lanes.
This is an affordable area with neighborhoods of lovely single-family homes on manicured
lawns, condominium complexes, and there are even building lots available. These
inviting neighborhoods provide havens for cook outs and block parties. The area
is considered an affordable housing alternative to the more expensive housing options
on the Westside.
An award winning elementary school is located within the neighborhood and there
are a number of nearby private elementary schools. There are two public high schools
and one charter high school in the area as well. Nearby California Sate University,
Los Angeles, offers 129 BA, 112 MA, 2 doctoral programs and 22 teaching credentials.
Silver Lake Reservior is nearby by and provides many recreation opportunities for
residents. There is a two and a half mile path that is a popular stop for local
walkers, runners, and joggers. The path provides pleasant views and you will find
many moms with strollers enjoying the peace and quiet of the park. The large green
space is big enough for people to fly kites, there is a playground and picnc area,
yoga classes are held in a beautiful meadow. and there is a basketball court, and
a dog park for pet owners to enjoy.
This beautiful hideaway offers hiking and biking trails, a full range of dining
and shopping options, and entertainment venues. The geography of the area provides
amazing views of downtown Los Angeles, Dodger stadium, the observatory, Hollywood
sign and the nearby valleys and canyons. There is an abundance of wildlife and beautiful
trees and plant life. Mount Washington is also home to Southwest Museum of the American
Indian which is one of 2 museums committed to presenting stories of all people of
the American West. The museum was founded by Gene Autry and has a sister museum
located in Griffith Park.
Though this quiet area does not have major roadways travel is still convenient.
There are nearby thoroughfares and freeways that provide easy access to downtown
Los Angeles. A light rail station in located in the southeastern part of the neighborhood.
Mount Washington offers a quiet get-away type of community in a lovely setting with
beautiful views while still maintaining the necessary amenities and conveniences.
