This area is home to the famous commercial zone known as the Miracle Mile. Spend a wonderful day strolling this 1.5 mile stretch that has department stores, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes. Take in the history of this achievement knowing that it was the first commercial zone of this kind in the country. Specifically designed to accommodate automobile traffic a portion of Wilshire Boulevard was designated for development. The street was the first thoroughfare to have dedicated left-turn lanes and timed traffic lights. Business were required to provide parking lots and had to be designed to be easily recognizable by a potential customer driving by at thirty miles an hour. These innovations attracted both business and shoppers and the area grew very quickly. It became a shoppers mecca drawing crowds because of the convenient parking lots, famous department stores, boutiques, and eateries. Due to the immediate success of the region it was dubbed the Miracle Mile. As other areas adopted this model the success lessened but it has added other attractions such as as a number of museums in an area designed Museum Row to maintain it's vitality. The area is worth a visit and for many it becomes a place they frequent to browse the shops on a sunny California afternoon.

Recreation and relaxation options are many for area residents. Queen Anne Recreation Centers provides a play ground and picnic area with barbecue pits for family outings. There are lighted tennis courts, a lighted baseball diamond, and indoor and outdoor basketball courts. Get your friends together for a pick-up basketball game, take the kids on a picnic, or just find a quiet corner to enjoy the open spaces and read a good book.

Nearby attractions include the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the La Brea Tar Pits, and the Peterson Automotive Museum. Sample Ethiopian food and culture in a block long section just off Wilshire is known as Little Ethiopia. Go for a shopping spree on the Miracle Mile or picnic at the recreation center.
