About Malibu
A Beautiful Ocean Front Community

Most Malibu neighborhoods are located along the picturesque Pacific Coast Highway. There are also communities nestled in the canyons and others within a mile of the beach. Exclusive estate areas, single-family development and condominium complexes are among the housing options. Housing styles are varied and a wide range of income levels can find their dream home in this ultimate California destination.

The Santa Monica-Malibu United School Districts has three elementary schools and a public high school that also serves both middle school and high school students in the district. Private schools are another options for parents in the area. One school encompasses all grade levels, one offers preschool through seventh grade classes, and another is for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Pepperdine University is also located in Malibu.

Beach front dining is plentiful in this ocean-side community. There is fine dining, casual cafes, and eateries to please every palate. For shoppers there are two shopping centers that offer a wide variety of stores, boutiques, theaters, and delicious food options. Unique features include picnic areas, playgrounds and an aquarium. Stroll downtown Malibu and browse stores, boutiques, and specialty shops.

Recreation in this community centers around the ocean but also includes hiking and lush settings in the mountains. State Parks are popular with locals and visitors and there are many such destinations in Malibu. If you like to swim, surf, dive, or fish you will have many beautiful locations to choose from. One example is Malibu Lagoon State Beach that is famous surfing and was the set for many of the beach blanket movies. In addition to surfing visitors can enjoy the over 200 bird species that call the beach home. When you do not want to spend a day at the beach head to Topanga State Park. There are 36 miles of hiking and equestrian trails that wind through lush foliage and offer magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean. Pack a picnic and enjoy the peace and beauty of the hills. For a private horseback riding experience head to Park Place Stable. This four acre property has private trails that provide riders with ocean views and panoramic vistas of canyons and valleys.

The Malibu Country Club is located in a canyon and has an 18-hole public golf course designed by Japanese monks. The course's location in the hills and valleys means a challenging and interesting round of golf for players of all levels. Carts are even equipped with GPS systems to help foursomes navigate the well-maintained grounds. Take time during the approximately four hour outing to enjoy the incredible views, beautiful vegetation, and magnificent setting that this quiet and secluded location offers.

After an exhilarating day of swimming, surfing, or horseback riding explore the nightlife in Malibu. You will find theaters, performing art centers, and many restaurants and cafes that offer the perfect spot for a cocktail.

Central Malibu is home to both the Adamson House and the Malibu Lagoon Museum. The Adamson House is home to the largest collection of Malibu Pottery tiles in the world. Often referred to as the 'Taj Mahal of Tile' visitors will find every room decorated with handcrafted ceramic tile. There is even a tile dog bath and a ceramic Persian rug. Delve into the history of the area with a visit to the Malibu Lagoon Museum. The days of the area as a ranch town are presented in documents, photographs, and artifacts. Before leaving remember to visit the beautiful grounds with rose bushes, tiled fountains, and ancient trees that rise over the saltwater lagoon abundant with bird life.

Malibu is a mecca for surfers and water sport lovers in general. The beautiful ocean views are complimented by inviting neighborhoods, lovely parks with hiking and equestrian trails, enjoyable shopping and dining experiences, nightlife, and its own unique history. It truly is a place of sun, sand, and surfing.
