Hollywood is a world famous community north of downtown Los Angeles. This beautiful
neighborhood with majestic homes is one of the most desired areas in the city.
Housing choices include magnificent homes, modest single-family houses, duplexes,
townhouses, and condominium communities, and apartment complexes. While known as
an affluent neighborhood that is home to the stars there are lovely areas with affordable
homes within this famous zip code.
Served by the Los Angeles Unified School District there are two elementary schools,
a middle school, and two high schools for the neighborhood. Parents can also opt
for two private elementary schools, a private middle schools, and two private high
schools.
The artistic history of the community is also evidence by the many post-secondary
institutions located in Hollywood that offer further education in such areas as
music, recording, acting, production, costume design, the theater, and photography.
Imagine, you take a walk in Hollywood and find yourself strolling down the Walk
of Fame. Probably the most famous sidewalk in the world you will be surrounded by
the giants of the movie, television and recording industry. The first stars were
in honored in 1958 and included Ronald Colman, Burt Lancaster. and Joanne Woodward.
New stars are selected annually and approximately 24 induction ceremonies are broadcast
worldwide every year.
Once you have explored the famous side walk browse the local shops and boutiques
and take a break at a lovely cafe. Do not forget to save time to visit the many
art galleries. After a day of exploring have a fine dining experience at one of
the many restaurants offering a variety of cuisines. If you are not to tired take
part in some of the wonderful nightlife the community has to offer. See a movie,
have a drink at a piano bar, party at a dance club, enjoy a play, or relax to acoustic
music at a cafe.
An southern California landmark, the Hollywood Bowl is an historic outside venue
known for its architecture and great acoustics. If you want to attend a show in
this venue you will find that tickets are inexpensive and you are permitted to bring
you own food and drink. Many different types of performances are offered at the
Bowl. Hit musicals are performed, individual artists from Tony Bennett to Willie
Nelson perform concerts, rock and roll, jazz, and classical music are among the
options. For a special finale many performances end with fireworks. Grab a bottle
of wine, pack a snack, and enjoy the show.
If you are looking to relax and enjoy some open space bring a picnic basket to Barnsdale
Art Park. The Park offers inviting walkways, art displays, a museum, and architecture
designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. There are also beautiful views of the Griffiths
Observatory, the Hollywood sign, and the skyline of downtown Los Angeles. Local
art events, plays, cultural festivals, and guest speakers are held in the Park and
a Farmer's Market sets up in the lower parking lot
The Hollywood Recreation Center offers residents a variety of activities and green
space for family enjoyment. There is a community room and an auditorium as well
as a playground and lighted basketball courts. The Center also hosts a free soccer
camp for boys and girls, ages seven to fourteen.
In addition to its rich history in the entertainment industry Hollywood as much
to offer residents and visitors. While being surrounded by the glamor of the area
is exciting that is only the beginning. Neighborhoods offer many housing choices
from large estates to convenient condos. Local pubs provide quite sanctuary in the
midst of beautiful settings, art works and magnificent views. Shopping and dining
options are endless and will accommodate a vast variety of preferences. Then there
is the nightlife with clubs, cafes, theaters, and dance clubs. If that is not enough
there is the Hollywood Bowl offering outstanding performance from a wide array of
styles. This community has it all from green space, to recreation, to fine dining,
to nightlife, to quiet picnic spots, what more could one want?
