About Hermosa Beach
In Spanish, hermosa means “beautiful.” Hermosa Beach is nothing if not defined by
beauty. The city features breathtaking flat, sandy beaches ideal for sunbathing,
volleyball and water sports. Named by The Travel Channel as one of the Top 10 Beaches
in Southern California, Hermosa Beach also offers a hub of activity with Pier Avenue
hosting outdoor activities year-round.
The commute to downtown Los Angeles is only 21 miles; with many locals working in
the LAX corridor, only 10 minutes away. Even with it's convenient proximity to urban
highlights, Hermosa Beach maintains a quaint atmosphere and solid sense of community.
Life in Hermosa Beach epitomizes the California lifestyle. A trip to the town center
on Pier Avenue delights visitors with a variety of acclaimed restaurants, specialty
shops, and an open-walk street plaza. Stroll from there to the fishing pier and
water's edge, where sun meets sand and sunsets are some of the most spectacular
on earth.
This small community features activities for everyone; there is a bike path, half-a-dozen
parks, a library, and a world-famous comedy club. Hermosa takes advantages of it's
pristine beaches, offering a host of concerts. The beaches are a favorite of, and
frequented by, volleyball professionals and Olympians. It's also home to one of
the largest arts & crafts shows in California, held each Memorial and Labor Day
weekend. Families enjoy the safe neighborhoods, myriad of kid-friendly activities
and schools that rank in the 80th and 90th percentiles.
Hermosa Beach successfully marries all of the elements that make Southern California
great, with “beautiful” result.
