About Eagle Rock
A Quiet and Charming Community
Eagle Rock is a community in the mountains of Northeast Los Angeles. It is named
after a large boulder on the edge of the region that has an outcropping that casts
a shadow on the rock that looks like a bird. The community is bordered by Glendale
on the north and west, Pasadena on the east, Highland Park on the southeast and
Glassell Park on the southwest.
When touring neighborhoods you will find tree-lined streets and developments located
in the rolling hills. Scenic views of mountains, valleys, canyons, and the city
can be found. Housing choices include estate properties, condominiums, townhouses,
and single-family homes. There are also building lots available for new construction.
Exclusive and expansive house are abundant but there are affordable homes as well.
The area is served by nine public schools. There are six elementary schools, a middle
school, and two high schools. Private schools include a preschool, three elementary
schools, and a high school. Occidental College is also located in the Eagle Rock.
Located just minutes from downtown Los Angeles and major studios Eagle Rock, with
it's hometown look, is a favorite location for many movie and television shoots.
Examples include scenes in the films Top Gun, Hunt for Red October, and Teen Wolf
and television series such as Beverly Hills, 90210 and Glee.
Eagle Rock Recreation Center provides a lovely open green space for children to
play and families to relax. There is a playground and lots of trees that provide
comforting shade. The Center has a gymnasium, three baseball diamonds, two football
fields, and tennis, basketball and volleyball courts. With amble benches, tables
and picnic areas the park is a local favorite for birthday parties, showers, reunions,
and other events. There are trails for hiking and jogging and many dog owners come
here to walk and play with their animals in this pet friendly park. Additionally
the park hosts summer camps and local sport leagues.
A popular shopping destination is the Eagle Rock Plaza. Anchored by Target and Macy's
the rest of the of the plaza has shops, boutiques, and even a fish market. When
you need a break there are restaurants, cafes, and fast food options to choose from.
It is known for it stores and eateries influenced by the local Filipino and Filipino-American
population. There are also other nearby malls in Glendale and Burbank.
Whether you are in the mood for Vietnamese food, want a pizza, or prefer to sit
down for a fine dining experience you will find an eatery in Eagle Rock. Stroll
Eagle Rock Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard and you will be surrounded by restaurants,
cafes, coffee shops, bakeries, burger joints, and pizza parlors. In addition to
California and American cuisine there are ethnic restaurants offering Latin, Mexican,
Italian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Filipino, and French food.
The Center for the Arts hosts exhibitions and performances from many different genres.
The Center also offers many classes for the young population of the area. Families
enjoy outings to the Promised Land Zoo that is home to over 500 animals. It is a
drive through exhibit and has a petting zoo that provides great photo ops.
Residents of Eagle Rock embrace the quaint and charming ambiance of their down and
visit surrounding areas when they are looking for theaters or nightclubs. Local
restaurants offer inviting spots to enjoy drinks with friends or have a cup of coffee
and desert.
Eagle Rock is a gem in the rough that provides residents with a quiet small town
environment. Residents walks down tree lined streets in their neighborhoods and
enjoy views of mountains, canyons, and valleys. The commercial center offers a wide
variety of eateries and a local shopping center includes stores, boutiques, and
eateries. There is also a lovely park and an active arts center.
