About Cerritos
Cerritos is a beautiful southern California city located in the southeastern corner
of Los Angeles county, bordering Orange County. Once known as Dairy Valley for the
plethora of dairy farms, the region evolved into an area of large, well-designed
housing developments with a suburban ambiance. The city also successfully established
commercial areas and cultural venues to round out the living experience for locals.
Conveniently located just south of State Route 91, a major east/west freeway and
east of the north/south San Gabriel River Freeway (Interstate 605), commuters find
this an excellent place to call home.
This community offers lushly landscaped, well designed, friendly, and affordable
communities. Potential home buyers will find houses of varying styles and sizes
on beautiful lawns, with patios, pools, and tree lined streets. Condominium units

Residents are proud of their pro-active city that boasts the nation's first solar
heated City Hall. They enjoy the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts that hosts
a wide variety of performances including opera, jazz, musicals and drama. The thoughtfully
developed Cerritos Towne Center includes office and retail space plus open air dining
and art exhibits. One of the first Wal-Mart stores in the area was opened in the
Center. To add to the beauty of the city a sculpture garden was recently opened.
The city has an active Parks and Recreation Department that operates welcoming parks
and sponsors a wide variety of activities for residents. A popular park is the Pat
Nixon Park constructed on the site of her childhood home that features a statue
of the former First Lady. The park houses a senior center that is open to the public
with a large recreational center offering activities and services to older citizens.
There are computer classes, movies, and a wellness and fitness room. Outside you
will find patios, landscaped lawns for picnics and relaxation, and a lovely koi
fish pond. Another park is Heritage Park where a bronze statue of Paul Revere welcomes
visitors and their pets before they cross a covered wooden bridge over a moat and
arrive at a play island with a miniature colonial town and a boat in the harbor.
There are also picnic areas and shelters, traditional playgrounds, and athletic
fields as well as a free concert series held in the summer. Another park boasts
a gym, swimming pool, playgrounds, athletic fields and courts, a rubber running
track, a water fountain area for children, and an indoor discovery zone for kids
when it is too hot to play outside. Yet another venue hosts community events, provides
an indoor Olympic swimming pool where swim meets are held, provides playgrounds,
lush green space for picnics, racquetball and tennis courts, softball fields, and
a walking/running track.
Dining and shopping choices are varied and plentiful in this city. Diners can choose
from fine dining restaurants offering traditional and ethnic dishes, quaint cafes
and bistros where you can choose to eat inside or outside, and fast food eateries
galore. You can stroll the Towne Center and grab a bit at an outside cafe, spend
a day browsing shops at the large shopping center and enjoy a bite at the food court,
or make a reservation for a fine dining experience in a venue that creates your
favorite dishes. It is equally easy to grab a hamburger at a sports bar or take
a pizza home to the family for dinner.
Shoppers enjoy large-scale retail zones such as Los Cerritos Center, the Cerritos
Towne Center, and Cerritos Auto Square. The beautifully designed Center features
three lushly landscaped corridors with skylights and welcoming seating areas. There
are large anchor stores, specialty shops, boutiques, a movie theater, and a large
food court. The Towne Center offers big-box stores, small shops, outdoor eateries,
and art displays. The three-block Auto Square is a unique concept that combines
all of the auto dealers in the city. It is popular destination for many car shoppers
due to its convenient location near two major freeways.
Cerritos is a well-designed and thoughtfully constructed city in Los Angeles County
