This community offers lushly landscaped, well designed, friendly, and affordable communities. Potential home buyers will find houses of varying styles and sizes on beautiful lawns, with patios, pools, and tree lined streets. Condominium units and townhouses in beautiful designed complexes offer units in a variety of sizes with amenities for residents that include pools, spas, and fitness facilities.

Children in the region are served by the ABC Unified School District. There are eight public elementary schools, three public middle schools, and four public high schools. Residents are proud of their pro-active city that boasts the nation's first solar heated City Hall. The city has an active Parks and Recreation Department that operates welcoming parks and sponsors a wide variety of activities for residents. A popular park is the Pat Nixon Park constructed on the site of her childhood home that features a statue of the former First Lady. The park houses a senior center that is open to the public with a large recreational center offering activities and services to older citizens. There are computer classes, movies, and a wellness and fitness room. Outside you will find patios, landscaped lawns for picnics and relaxation, and a lovely koi fish pond. Another park is Heritage Park where a bronze statue of Paul Revere welcomes visitors and their pets before they cross a covered wooden bridge over a moat and arrive at a play island with a miniature colonial town and a boat in the harbor. There are also picnic areas and shelters, traditional playgrounds, and athletic fields as well as a free concert series held in the summer. Another park boasts a gym, swimming pool, playgrounds, athletic fields and courts, a rubber running track, a water fountain area for children, and an indoor discovery zone for kids when it is too hot to play outside. Yet another venue hosts community events, provides an indoor Olympic swimming pool where swim meets are held, provides playgrounds, lush green space for picnics, racquetball and tennis courts, softball fields, and a walking/running track.

Dining and shopping choices are varied and plentiful in this city. Diners can choose from fine dining restaurants offering traditional and ethnic dishes, quaint cafes and bistros where you can choose to eat inside or outside, and fast food eateries galore. You can stroll the Towne Center and grab a bit at an outside cafe, spend a day browsing shops at the large shopping center and enjoy a bite at the food court, or make a reservation for a fine dining experience in a venue that creates your favorite dishes.
