About Beverly Hills
A Neighborhood with Style
Beverly Hills is located next to the city of West Hollywood on the east and is encircled
by the city of Los Angeles. The area is also bordered by Bel Air and the Santa Monica
Mountains to the northwest,Beverlywood to the south, and the Fairfax District to
the east.
There are housing developments throughout the hills and neighborhoods in what is
considered the flat section of the city. Many different types of housing and communities
are available in the area. The are large homes and estates, single-family homes
of all sizes, condominiums, townhouses, and apartments. Some areas have an urban
aura, others have a small town feel, and some are sprawling neighborhoods with large
yards. Similarly, prices vary and most of the real estate is expensive but there
area affordable homes to be found. There are also building lots available.
The Beverly Hills Unified School District provide the public education for the community.
There is a public elementary school serving grades 1-8, another that includes grades
1-5, and one that has classes for grades K-8; a middle school, and a high school.
Eight private schools are also in the region. Three are preschools and five elementary
schools for a variety of grades levels.
Beverly Hills is synonymous with shopping and it does not disappoint. A visit to
Rodeo Drive is an experience not easily matched. Allow plenty of time to stroll
and browse the shops. Hungry shoppers looking for a bite will find a multitude of
choices. There are delicatessens, lovely cafes, and shops offering pizza or burgers
or sandwiches. For those looking for fine dining opportunities there many options
both in luxury hotels and restaurants. You can find most any atmosphere you are
looking for; casual, elegant, family friendly, fun, quiet, or romantic. Whatever
your taste or budget you will not go away hungry. The area also has charming and
opulent bars for a peaceful cocktail after your tiring day.
Also put Beverly on your shopping list. The Center is located at the edge of Beverly
Hills and shoppers will find everything they are looking for and more. Anchored
by Bloomingdale's and Macy's there are more than 100 stores and boutiques that represent
styles from famous designers such as Prada, Saint Laurent and Gucci. In addition
to the many clothing shops there are stores for everything from books to jewelry
to sporting goods. It is close to impossible to go home empty handed. If you work
up an appetite while shopping there are up-scale dining venues, casual cafes and
fast food options. Choices include Steak houses, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, French,
Mexican cuisine, pizza kitchens, and sandwich shops.
There is much more to do in Beverly Hills than shopping. The city is home to many
lovely parks that offer open green space where locals can exercise, enjoy a picnic,
or just relax. Many have walking, hiking, and biking trails, playgrounds, swimming
pools, lush landscaping, gardens, and magnificent art work. There are also baseball
diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts, and community centers. Parks sponsor team
sports and also host events such as art shows and concerts.
Take the time to visit the landmarks and famous estates that are part of the history
of the city. Among these are Pickfair the estate of Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford,
the Greystone Mansion with beautiful gardens often used in movie and television
productions, and the Harold Lloyd Estate listed on the National Register of Historic
Places.
Beverly Hills, the shoppers mecca, also has lovely neighborhoods and parks where
residents can play, picnic, and relax. There are many different types of neighborhoods
from urban to small town and beyond.
