About Belmount Shore
The charming, beachside community of Belmont Shore is a neighborhood within Long
Beach, California though it maintains a distinct and separate identity. The heart
of this community are comprised of Livingston Drive and 2nd Street, from Alamitos
Bay and Naples Island to the east and Bluff Park to the west.
The eastern part of Belmont Shore is Alamitos Bay Beach. This is an inland beach
which faces Naples Island across a channel. The southern coast of Belmont Shore
is a south-facing beach on the Pacific Ocean, just inside the Long Beach breakwater.
At its southeast corner is the entrance to a peninsula. This narrow, mile-long area
holds a neighborhood surrounded by water on each side. The area in between the two
creates the business district.
Nearly every home in Belmont Shore is a quick walk from interesting shops and restaurants.
The business corridor is home to more than 250 businesses. Locally inspired shops
include unique, upscale boutiques, fine jewelry, flower shops, bookstores, and popular
national retail chains.
Dining around Belmont Shore is a treasure trove of old favorites and new explorations.
From coffee houses, bakeries, casual eateries, taverns and specialty food and drinks,
every one is sure to find their tastes tickled. Restaurants here offer plenty of
festivity which adds to this quirky community.
Several times each month, local businesses hold events to involve the community.
Some examples include the Chocolate Festival, Stroll and Savior, and car shows.
This continues all year round.
Belmont Shore is an active community. Separate pedestrian and bike lanes can be
found throughout. Part of the area even shuts down to vehicle traffic each summer
to accommodate the many children and foot traffic.
The beaches here boast volleyball courts, where you can partake in a pick-up game
or join an organized group. There are also jet ski launches, a dog beach, and a
cement beach path. The Gondola Gateway brings some old world charm and tradition
to Belmont Shore. Here you can take an authentic Venetian gondola to gently cruise
the canals and waterways of Naples Island.
Alamitos Bay is a beautiful and friendly marina in Belmont Shore. Often called “The
best kept secret between Los Angeles and Orange County,” it features water that
is nearly always calm and flat. The beaches here are well supervised, making it
excellent for children.
